Review from Rehabs.com

While I typically do not leave online reviews, I feel compelled to take the time to write one for UF's Florida Recovery Center. I attended FRC in 2006-2007 and again in 2019 when I sustained a relapse after 10+ years of sobriety. Without Dr. Ken Thompson (former medical director), Dr. Scott Teitelbaum (current medical director) and their multifaceted team of clinicians and experts in addiction psychiatry, I most likely would have joined the many others who have succumbed from this disease. It was not until recently I fully came to appreciate how fortunate I was to have been afforded the opportunity to attend FRC for treatment. It saddens me to see some of the disparaging comments and unfounded negative reviews written by people who are obviously as sick, angry and resentful as I was when I was placed under a Marchman Act by Dr. Teitelbaum in 2006. In my opinion, UF's Florida Recovery Center is among the best programs addiction psychiatry has to offer. Not only did the clinicians of this exemplary program preserve my licenses to practice law and veterinary medicine, they saved my life. And for that, I am forever grateful.

FRC has a remarkable staff .My son's team approached his care with tremendous insight and compassion. They try any and all options to get to the core of the addition and co-occurring issues. We tried many facilities and were blown away by how comprehensive this program is. They truly care about the patient and their families and will engage with multiple staff members to help find as many treatment strategies as possible. They will stop at nothing to help. This is a wonderful facility in all the right ways. It's about the patient and their team -they are exceptional providers..

I owe my life to God and to FRC. Thank you so much to all the doctors and the treatment team. I am coming up on 15 months sober after overdosing and having 3 2 strokes. They helped me mentally spiritually and honestly.... Even physically because I needed to attend physically therapy at Shands while I was there.

We sent our son there for detox and residential treatment, but communication with staff, except intake, was almost impossible during detox. Neither treating doctor nor director ever returned our calls. Only detox and out-patient are accredited and/or licensed. In-patient residential is NOT, so insurance does not cover. The Recovery Center never told us that, or we would have selected a different program, which we did after detox. I would never recommend this program to anyone!
