Peter Dawson founded Turning Point New Zealand in 2013 with a desire to add more detox services that were desperately needed in the Auckland area. Today, Turning Point offers medical detox and residential services in a comfortable environment. They tailor their detox and rehabilitation process to each guest, with stay times decided by personal needs. The Turning Point NZ uses holistic, whole-body care to treat addiction and mental health, including smoking cessation. Counseling supports patients’ mental health as they begin recovery, treating the pain behind their addiction. They also use medications as needed to help relieve withdrawal symptoms.

Personalized, Whole-Person Healing

Turning Point's holistic approach to recovery addresses the root cause of addiction by utilizing specialized staff that includes DAPAANZ-registered counselors and therapists. Nearly all staff members are in recovery themselves, adding a unique personal touch to the services they provide. Individual and group therapies use 12-Step philosophies to address and treat the cause of addiction, not just its symptoms. Turning Point’s medical director oversees each treatment plan, adjusting it as needed to best meet patients’ needs. In residential treatment, which lasts from 28-90+ days, patients learn about relapse prevention, gain healthy coping skills, work the 12-Steps, and become physically well through nutritious food and exercise.

Full Continuum of Care

Clients who complete 28 days of treatment qualify for Turning Point’s included 24-month continuing care plan. The program has 2 meetings per week, held on Monday and Friday nights. Turning Point invites patients’ families into the healing journey, offering resource connections, counseling, and a weekly 12-Step Friends and Family group. Added with their robust relapse prevention sessions and mental health treatment, patients gain an unmatched and thorough step towards life-long recovery.

Recover in Stunning Surroundings

Turning Point New Zealand's goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for clients to achieve long-term sobriety. Their cozy home provides gender-specific accommodations, with men and women housed on separate sides of the home. Clients can enjoy spacious accommodations, chef-prepared meals, and ample outdoor seating and meditation areas on their 25 acres. Daily meditation sessions and on-site yoga classes add to Turning Point’s wellness opportunities.
