About San Diego Freedom Ranch
Since 1972, the compassionate professionals at San Diego Freedom Ranch strive to provide structure and care through their residential services tailored specifically for men. Situated on over 300 acres of desert landscape, clients can heal amongst nature in a secluded and serene setting. Their program consists of highly structured daily treatment schedules, with weekly 1-on-1 counseling and regular group sessions led by licensed counselors. Treatment is deeply rooted in the principles of 12 Step recovery, with clients required to engage in regular community support meetings and work with a sponsor. Additionally, treatment offers evidence-based methods blended with educational and clinical groups. Therapeutic activities are offered such as reflection and meditation, life skills, family and relationships, communication, relapse prevention, interactive journaling, drug pharmacology, process groups, and co-occurring support and education. Clients receive over 40 hours per week of structured, clinical care, and are also responsible for performing assigned chores such as general maintenance tasks or small construction projects.
Accommodations at the ranch are bunkhouse styled dormitories, with toiletries and clothing provided for residents in need. There are special areas designated for family visits or quiet reflection, with recreational activities such as weightlifting, horseshoes, movie nights, miniature golf, and more.
Before leaving the ranch upon completion of the program, residents must complete an exit plan specifying that each client is set up for success in safe and sufficient housing, has given contact information for sponsors, has regular AA or NA meetings that will be attended, and a letter of completion for residents needing to satisfy legal requirements.
San Diego Freedom Ranch is a nonprofit organization, licensed and certified by the state of California to treat up to 56 men at a time
