The New Orleans Institute at River Oaks Hospital specializes in treating individuals with trauma-based mental disorders, compulsive behavior disorders, eating disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD). Their comprehensive inpatient programs offer a supportive environment where patients receive individualized care from a multidisciplinary team with over 25 years of experience. Treatment modalities include individual and group therapies, trauma resolution, and relapse prevention strategies, all aimed at stabilizing symptoms and promoting long-term recovery.

Supported by a Multidisciplinary Team

The institute serves adults, including active-duty military members and their families, who have not found success with outpatient or standard inpatient programs. Recognizing the unique challenges faced by these populations, the institute provides specialized care tailored to their specific needs. The treatment team comprises psychiatrists, medical doctors, psychologists, social workers, dietitians, psychiatric nurses, counselors, and expressive therapists, all working collaboratively to address complex trauma-related symptoms such as depression, anxiety, dissociation, and self-injury.

The trauma unit saved my life. I feel it is the best place to go when you are having more symptoms and you feel unsafe.

I have been a patient here twice for drug and alcohol detox. Better than other detox facilities, they will help you the most with MAT and comfort meds. Food is great for what it is. Though fruit would be nice. Staff was kind and empathetic both times

I was in treatment in the Trauma unit for 4 weeks. The treatment team was outstanding. The caliber of staff was amazing and genuinely cared for each patient. I felt safe, secure, and knew I was in good hands. My therapist, Dr., and others were so instrumental in my recovery and healing. Thank you very much

Review from Rehabs.com

Certain staff members treated me like family. They talked with me one on one when I was struggling, even if they were not my counselor. Even when I wanted to give up I was given repeated methods to stay strong and distract me from myself. There was one doctor in particular who I felt was a jerk; I did not like that he had to be the psychiatrist. Also did not like that I could not switch counselors. I didn't like my counselor as much as I liked counselors that were not mine and I feel like I should have gotten a say in who got to treat me one on one and to where I felt that I got the most help. I was deep deep in an eating disorder and this place saved me. Without it I would not be alive today. They made me realize I did have a problem and the only way to be truly happy was to help myself.
