Streamwood Behavioral Healthcare System Partial Hospitalization

Children and adolescents ages 4 to 17 attend this day program when emotional or behavioral challenges make it hard to function at home, in school, or in daily life. The program allows kids to return home each evening to practice the skills they learn during the day. Clients are grouped by age—tots (4–6), children (7–10), pre-teens (11–13), and adolescents (14–17)—with treatment adjusted to fit developmental needs.

Therapeutic Setting and Services

Located on East Irving Park Road, the program offers a structured, therapeutic setting where young clients take part in group, individual, and family therapy. The team includes psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses, therapists, teachers, expressive therapists, and behavioral health technicians. Therapy approaches include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), expressive therapies, and psychoeducation. Certified teachers provide academic support during the day, and clinicians manage medications as needed.

Environment and Continuity of Care

Clients typically attend for 10 to 12 days, depending on their progress. The program offers a calm, nonjudgmental environment where clients can build and strengthen practical skills like emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and healthy decision-making. After completing the program, many move into the facility’s half-day intensive outpatient program, which supports continued progress while helping kids ease back into school and daily routines.
